Big, loving Columbo was found trying to survive at a community cat colony in late winter. His eyes were just slits, so infected he could barely see. He was very thin because he ability to scavenge for food was going away.
One of our kind Colony Managers alerted us to him so we could bring him in. It turns out he has a condition called entropion. This is a genetic condition in which a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded inward against the eyeball. This means that every time Columbo blinked his eyes, he also scratched them too. Eventually he would have gone blind.
Thanks to our wonderful partner veterinarians at Cheyenne Mountain Animal Hospital, Columbo had corrective surgery and is now recovering nicely in a loving foster home. He’s already beginning to see better, is putting on weight and is ready to go home!
