Indy Give thanks!
Big rumbly purrs to everyone who donated to our Indy Give! campaign! We especially appreciate our Matching donors: Arthur L. Borgersen, Betsy & Chris Miller, Cyndi Brown, Gigi’s – The Animal Lovers’ Giftshop, the Happy Cats Board, Effie & Rhue & Picabo’s guardian, Kimberly & Jim Sisneros, Pamela Fickes-Miller and Sarah F. Roach.

We gave safe haven to almost 500 cats and kittens in 2015. Our veterinary costs continue to increase with the number of cats we save. Your year-end donation continues to provide support for all our cats, including sweet Noel.

Noel @ Happy Cats
She was found limping badly by Happy Cats friends Maria and Marilyn who feed at a sanctioned feral colony. When they approached, it became apparent she was friendly, an abandoned pet who almost walked into the carrier they offered. On inspection, they were horrified to find she had a halter that had grown into her sides and under her arms. She had probably been abandoned as a kitten with it on. It turns out she also had a broken jaw.

Noel @ Happy Cats
With the help of several parties, including the Animal Clinic of Woodland Park, Mary Calanni of Blue Mountain Animal Rescue and 9 Lives, the halter was removed, she got the initial medical care she needed and went into foster care with Mary. She will need more surgery, as her wounds were very deep, and she will also need more dental work to ensure that she her mouth is pain free.

Noel in recovery

Noel is at Happy Cats now, recovering and loving. We’re all trying to be patient as this sweet kitty thinks she’s ready to go home right meow! It always amazes us how resilient our cats are after coming through something like this, ready to love and be loved again.

Thanks to everyone, the $33,000 we raised will help even more cats and kittens like her. With less than 3 full-time staff positions and the help of over 100 loving volunteers, at least 87% of every dollar goes directly to the care of our cats. You can be assured we will stretch your donation to help even more than 500 cats and kittens in 2016!
