Hello! I rescued a cat wandering my neighborhood. She had a huge hole in her side, maybe from a dog a attack. While nursing her back to health (she’s fully healed) I posted her on the lost/found pets on Craigslist. Unfortunatly, I was not able to find her owner. She is completely adoptable. She came with a collar on but no tags, great manners, parasite free, and litter trained. I have had her a month but I cannot keep her. i have two cats and thats all my lease allows. I could be evicted if my leasing company found out so i am asking if it would be possible to help me with my situation. I don’t know if she is microchipped. It breaks my heart but I cannot keep her.

Hello, If you can find a foster or keep her for at least another 2-3 months, we might be able to get her on our waiting list. Please go to the Forms tab and click on the Intake form to download it, fill it out and attach to an email. We can’t guarantee when a cat will come in, since intakes are dependent on adoptions, but you could at least get her on the list. We have a scanner, so you could alson make an appointment with us to bring her in for a microchip scan, 635-5000.

      Hi Kim,

If you can find someone to bring her inside for a couple of months so she’s no longer exposed to possible viruses, we may be able to get her on our waiting list. Go to the Forms tab, click on the Intake Application, download and fill out, and email it back to us at office @ happycatshaven.org.

We have a 12 year old neutered declawed male Himalayan cat that we are o longer able to keep. My son has developed severe allergies to he cat. His airway nearly closes when he comes in contact with the cat or his fur. Meko is micro chipped, litter box trained and eats dry cat food. He would do best with older children or no children at all. He is very affectionate with ladies but is timid around men. He is a very shy cat. He spends most of his time hiding from my 3 younger children. He is a beautiful cat and it pains me to have to do this.

I am looking for help and answers. I would appreciate your response!

    Thank you!
    Jeannie

      Hello Jeannie,

We replied to you directly about your intake, so if you did not receive that, please write the office directly at office@happycatshaven.org.

We have a 7 year old gray & white male neutered cat that belonged to our daughter. Unfortunately when she married & moved out he didn’t like her husband. He has gotten along with some cats but not every cat he’s lived with so he currently resides in our basement as we have 3 cats of our own. This is not an ideal situation even though our computer is in the basement & someone does spend a lot of time with him, we would love to find him a loving new owner who absolutely loves cats!! We have loved him since taking him in off the street back when he was only 6 months old so he has been in our family for awhile. He loves attention & is very loving but would likely do well with a single person with no other pets.

      Hello Laura,

We have around 50 cats and kittens on our waiting list, so we’re presently closed till January 1, 2013, in order to get to some of those who have been waiting, we hope. If you can care for your cat for another few months, we can see about getting him on the list come January 1st. We wish we had a sanctuary for all cats, but our intakes depend on the number of adoptions we have.

Well time has flown by very quickly with the holidays. It is almost the end of January & we still have “Taz” living in our basement, although not the best set-up as I feel he is very lonely. We still would very much like some help finding this precious cat a new & loving home, perhaps we should advertise on craigslist or somewhere else if there is a good place that you would recommend?? One of our old cats lived to 17 & I would hate to see him live like this another 11 years since he doesn’t seem to want to get along with our other cats. I hope to hear back from you soon again so we can figure out a solution for him besides euthanization.

Hello Laura, Have you submitted an intake application? We’ve opened up our intakes again now that we’ve had some adoptions. You can go to the Intake tab from the main page and download the app, fill it out and email it to us at . We can see about getting him on the wait list, if he’s healthy and friendly.

  5. Stacy

    Hi there!

My name is Stacy, and I found three ADORABLE kittens wandering the hallway in my apartment building. They are about 2 months old, playful, litterbox trained, and happy to be around people. They seemed underfed, cold, and scared, so I brought them in and fed them. I can’t possibly keep three kittens, as I already have one beautiful cat, but I’m definitely willing to foster for a while until homes can be found for them. I just don’t know where to begin to look! If there’s any way that you can put them on your website, I’ll take care of them until then. I’m happy to send pictures as well. They’re adorable little munchkins, and will have NO trouble finding a forever home!!

Hello Stacy, We’re opening up our intake again starting tomorrow, so if you are able to foster these little ones, we could see about taking them in. If you could go to the Forms tab and download the Intake Application and return it in an email to adopt@happycatshaven.org, we’ll be in touch about getting you on as a foster. Thanks!

Hi again Stacy, We don’t seem to have received your application, so please call us at 635-5000 if you’d like more assistance. Thanks!

  6. Richard

I have a cat that I cannot keep due to issues with the apartment complex I am living in, I would like to know if you folks have any openings in your shelter for an extra cat. I will be sending in a form soon but would like to hear back form you guys before I send it away.

    1. happycat

Hello Richard, We’re generally about 2 months out for taking in cats, as long as they’re adoptable. Our space depends on the number of adoptions we’ve had, which is unpredictable. If you can send in the Intake Application, we can see about getting you on the waiting list.

We are a military family (and fellow cat rescuers!) who just got orders to Hawaii. One of our rescue kitties, Sam, is not able to make the trip with the rest of the family. :( He is about 10 years old, and has had a rough life….leading to some emotional issues. He would be adoptable, but do best in a quiet, single pet home. (or at least somewhere he can have his own space) He really needs routine, and would like a warm lap, or a blanket in front of the fireplace. Our vet recommended we check with you. We don’t leave until May, so hoping for a kitty angel to help!

    1. happycat

Hi Betsy, As long as Sam is healthy and reasonably social, we can see about getting him on our waiting list, since we try to leave room for some seniors. Please go to the Intake tab and read about our parameters for intakes, then you can download the Intake Application, fill it out and return in an email. It’s always helpful to provide vet records and a photo. Cats who have been tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses will receive priority in the waiting list. We’re glad you’ve allowed plenty of time to find him a home before you leave!

  8. Danielle

We have two amazing cats whom we love with all of our hearts. Their names are Lady and Tramp. We have had them for almost 3 years now and they are just the best cats anyone could ask for. However I have cat allergies and my medicine is no longer helping. I really hate to see them go but I can’t continue on living with swollen eyes and a hard time breathing in my own home. I have asked friend and family if they would take them but no one is able to. Please help us find our cats a new great and loving home.

    1. happycat

Hello, We’re sorry to hear about your recent allergies. If you go to the Intake tab, you can download the Intake Application to see about getting your cats on our list. Please be aware that there’s always at least a 2 month waiting list as getting in cats depends on cats getting adopted. There’s more info on the Intake page to guide you in the process.
